In an earlier post, you said that the yeast extract was made using the autolytic process. I was wondering if you use heat or salt to trigger the process. If you use salt, which type do you use? Iodinized salt, kosher salt or sea salt? I am asking because I am currently on a low iodine diet as preparation for a test and trying to figure out if I can use the No Salt Added Vegan Vegetable Bouillon.

    Thanks!

Response: The vegetable bouillon contains no additional salt in the production. However it does contain sea salt in the recipe, therefore please consult your health professional before deciding if the product is safe to consume before your test.

I'm having trouble finding rapunzel extra dark chocolate 70%, normally available in Stop & Shop stores in Connecticut. They've been out of it for about a month.

Response: We did have a supply issue that has been corrected. You should see the product on the shelf very soon if not already.

Where can I buy Rapunzel Choc in my area (Williamsburg VA 23185 & 23188)? Both stores I used to use are now gone.

I can order 2 boxes (of 12 bars ea).

Response: To answer your question, this product is currently unavailable due to an out of stock issue at the manufacturer level. We are expecting a new, fresh shipment mid April in which you should see it back on the retail shelves. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you.

what exactly is the "yeast extract" listed in the vegetable broth and boullion cubes?
    Thank you!

Response: Yeast extract is the common name for various forms of processed yeast products. Our yeast extract is produced by an autolytic process and not by acid hydrolysis. The yeast extract we use is not synthetic.

I'm an Assistant Grocery Manager and was just questioned by a customer on the best by on the Rapunzel Vegan Vegetable bouillon. This is what's printed L057884 0410. The other ones we have are L057650 0290. These look like lot numbers to me and if that's the case it's a little confusing to the customer. If it is just the lot number should a "best by" be printed on the box? Would somebody kindly get back to me on this?

    Thank-you

    Donna

Response: Hi Donna, the code dates are "closed codes" on the Rapunzel products. The last 4 digits on the code are the year and day the product was produced. 0 410 means the product was produced in 2010 on the 41st day. The shelf life is 730 days, so this particular product would expire on the 41st day of 2012. Please let me know if you have further questions.
